Christine Taaffe Memorial Scholarship

The Christine Taaffe Memorial Scholarship was established in 2011 in memory of Christine M. Taaffe SIS ’00, a student athlete on AU’s Swimming and Diving team who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the School of International Service in 2000. The scholarship was initiated as a memorial to Christine, who passed away suddenly on May 5, 2006. The scholarship is awarded annually to a member of American University’s Swimming and Diving team, with preference for a female swimmer, in accord with the University’s financial aid policies to students who meet the University’s requirements for need-based assistance. The scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.00 per year.

If, in a particular year, there are no qualified applicants, the University may choose to award the Scholarship in a manner consistent with the Donor’s original intent. Scholarships awarded by the fund will be applied to the cost of attending the University. In accord with University policy, the scholarship will be renewed from year to year.
